HL 7000 PRO from SebaKMT (Germany) - a professional category water leakage search kit with optional function for leak detection using a tracer gas method.
The HL 7000 PRO is equipped with a ground microphone set for efficient water leakage detection. In the case of very small leaks, where the leakage noise is really very small, the gas search function is effectively helpful.
How to work the leakage search system with the gas search function?
Tracer gas is used to detect leakage in water pipes where, due to low water pressure or very small leakage openings, leakage acoustical noise is very small and can not be practically determined by the acoustic method. Then, along with the tracer gas, the electronic gas detector HL 7000 PRO is used, which has been a tried and tested method for decades.
To detect leakage, tracer gas (5% hydrogen and 95% nitrogen) is introduced into the testing water pipe through a hydrant or a home connection. It flows out of the leaking hole and rises upright above it. Thanks to the low specific density and molecular structure, the tracer has a special feature that it quickly penetrates into all materials (concrete, tiles, asphalt concrete, etc.) and easily passes through them. It flows through the vertical, where it can then be detected using the H2 sensor.
Thanks to the precise and fast response, the HL 7000 PRO is the perfect tool for precisely determining all leakage points.
How does acoustic leakage work?
Flowing water from a damaged water pipe causes two types of noise:
1. Water flowing out of the pipe causes the tube to vibrate. With HL 7000 and the included microphone, you can hear the vibrations of this leak even at remote locations where you can contact the tube (valve, hydrant, connection to the building, etc.).
2. The water flowing into the leakage hole produces sounds transmitted through the ground to its surface. Using the ground microphone, the HL 7000 displays this sounds volume graphically and its frequency spectrum.
